Hunt+Gather ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.

INFORMATION WE COLLECT

• Account information: Name, email address, username, and password when you create an account.
• Profile information: Optional bio, location, interests, and profile photo that you choose to share.
• Harvest logs: Species, date, location, measurements, and photos you choose to record.
• Trip data: GPS waypoints, trip details, and participant information you enter.
• License data: Hunting and fishing license information you scan or manually enter. This data is stored locally on your device and in encrypted cloud backup.
• Location data: GPS coordinates when you log harvests or mark waypoints. Location sharing with your Pack is always opt-in.
• Usage data: App interactions and feature usage to improve the product (anonymized via PostHog).

HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

• To provide, maintain, and improve the Hunt+Gather platform
• To personalize your experience and show relevant content
• To send license expiry alerts and regulation updates you opt into
• To enable social features like Trophy Wall and Pack messaging
• To ensure offline functionality of licenses and trip data

DATA SHARING

We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your information with advertisers. We share data only in these limited circumstances:

• With your Pack: Only information you explicitly choose to share (harvest posts marked public, location when actively sharing)
• Service providers: Cloud storage (Cloudflare R2) for media, analytics (PostHog, anonymized), and push notifications (Firebase)
• Legal requirements: When required by law or to protect safety

YOUR LOCATION DATA

Location data is particularly sensitive for hunters and anglers. We treat it accordingly:

• GPS coordinates for harvest logs and waypoints are private by default
• Location sharing with your Pack is always opt-in, per-trip, and ends when you end the trip
• We never share exact harvest or waypoint coordinates publicly without your explicit consent
• Background location is only used during active trip tracking, which you control

LICENSE DATA

Your hunting and fishing licenses are stored encrypted on your device and in encrypted cloud backup. We do not share license data with state agencies or third parties. License data is used only to power the offline license display and expiry alert features.

DATA RETENTION

Your data is retained while your account is active. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from Profile → Account → Delete Account. License and harvest data stored locally on your device is removed when you uninstall the app or clear app data.

• Access and download your data
• Correct inaccurate information
• Delete your account and data
• Opt out of analytics collection
• Control location permissions at the OS level

CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

Hunt+Gather is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us at privacy@huntandgather.app.
